Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 7:30 amβ10 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Port Sky Cafe at (814) 949-5000; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, menu.hfs.psu.edu.

Altoona is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Altoona is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Been waiting an hour for a god damn breakfast sandwich. My pancakes are cold 90% of the time. Hire better staff or actually do the work. Only reason the atmosphere gets a three is bc I can sit in here w friends.

Wellβ¦ I will admit my hopes for Port Sky overall were extremely high, as the atmosphere here is absolutely grandiose. These hopes, however, were completely crushed when I waited 35 minutes for French toast sticks and bacon. Port sky is the kind of place that has a ridiculous amount of potential, but seems to be held back by the daily operations and the system the workers unfortunately have to deal with. I would highly recommend the ice cream as my colleague Matt Beaulieu has suggested in a previous review, along with βAll Fired Upβ. Port Sky offers some decent food, but absolutely could be much better. In conclusion, The Port Sky Cafe is a place with an incredibly electric atmosphere, but the other shortcomings frequently leave me wishing I just went to Sheetz instead.

The dining hall offers a mixed bag of experiences. On one hand, the service leaves much to be desiredβstaff often seem unmotivated and inattentive, which can make getting even the simplest requests met feel like a challenge. As for the food, it falls squarely in the realm of mediocrity: while itβs edible and occasionally satisfying, donβt expect anything memorable or particularly fresh. However, the atmosphere is where this place shines. It has a lively, electric vibe that creates a sense of energy and community. If youβre looking for a place to soak in a buzzing environment, this might be its saving grace. Overall, the dining hall is functional but far from exceptional, relying on its atmosphere to overshadow its shortcomings.

I am giving this a 3 stars because it is only trash half the time. Coming to port sky as a college student with a meal plan I don't expect to have the same quality steak as the capital grille, or I don't expect the pizza to be from Italy. I did think that the pizza would be cooked more often than not though. Coming to port sky is somewhat of a gamble depending on what you get. When I order a wrap sandwich from "On a Roll", chances are its going to be unwrapped and poorly made (the bacon is also under cooked often.) I payed good money for this meal plan and I would like to see more quality food out of it. Please and thanks. Staff is friendly though, always wishing me a good weekend :)

The staff is unable to properly cook food, such as omelettes or sandwiches. The omelets are burnt and filled with cold cheese. Sometimes the fruit is moldy. The staff is unable to tell the difference between ham and bacon in a sandwich. They even tried to give my best friend a coffee with whole milk instead of coconut milk and she is lactose intolerant! They never clean off the tables throughout the whole day. A lot of the foods sit under heat lamps and become extremely dry and disgusting. This is a shame because I love to eat sticks! I have to wait at least 5 minutes every morning just to tell the staff I would like chocolate chip pancakes and it is very frustrating when I am trying to be studious and make it to class on time. The cashiers are unable to ring up my food quickly and one time she charged my card for my best friendβs food even though my picture is on the ID!
